Motability - With Nil Advanced Rental
Over 400,000 drivers in the UK currently use the Motability Scheme. At Mackie Motors we have fully trained and authorised Motability Specialists, who can help and advise in acquiring a new vehicle.
Vehicles from both Renault and Nissan are available on the scheme - selected vehicles with no advance rental. To fully discuss the options available to Motability Users click here to request contact from a member of our specialist team.
Our Aftersales departments in both Brechin and Arbroath are fully authorised by Motability to maintain and service all Renaults and Nissans on the scheme. Click here for our aftersales contact details - even if your car was originally supplied by another dealer.
Mackie Motors FAQs... From Motability Users
If you’re interested in a Motability car, you are likely to have some questions.
Here are a selection of the most common questions our Motability specialists are asked.
You need to be entitled to at least 12 months of the Higher Rate Motability Component of the Disability Living Allowance. Motor dealers have no influence over who qualifies and who doesn’t. Only when you have confirmed eligibility can our motability specialists advise on what vehicles are available – and on what terms.
What is paid for?
You receive a new leased car every 3 years. What is paid for is tyres, insurance, road tax, servicing and maintenance, breakdown cover and replacement window cover.
What is NOT paid for?
Your only responsibility is to pay the cost of fuel, oil top-ups, and the theft of any personal items stolen from the car – as well as an excess mileage charge if the vehicle covers more miles than agreed at the start of the agreement.
How do I choose a suitable car?
You should consider the suitability of a particular model to your specific needs and your lifestyle. Also, you should consider fuel costs, any equipment you need to carry, and whether or not you require to travel with others. Our Motability Specialists can then advise you on the range of models available and the initial advance rental (if any) which is required. Currently, the range of motability offers are updated quarterly.
What do I do if my car needs adaptations?
If adaptations are required this can be included on your lease agreement. Some vehicle adaptations are carried out by the supplying dealer, others by Motability approved installation centres. If you are simply updating a current adaptation, your car can be ordered with the relevant equipment. First time purchasers should contact their local mobility centre for advice on exact requirement.
Can I just call in, or do I have to make an appointment?
We would recommend making an appointment as the role of Motability Specialist is one for which certain members of our Sales Team are specifically trained. We would want to ensure that you receive the courtesy of undivided attention, so you don’t feel pressured in any way. An pre-arranged appointment could avoid you arriving at a time that a specialist is performing handover duties to another customer receiving the keys to their new car.
Can I take a test drive?
We would actively encourage you to drive an appropriate vehicle from the range of Renaults and Nissans demonstrators we have at any given time. You will doubtless understand that it is impractical to have every version of every model available all the time. However, we will do our best to provide you with a test drive of a suitable model. Equally, don’t forget that we are happy to arrange a test drive at your own home.
Tell me about this “Advance Initial Rental” I keep hearing about?
Some higher grade models are more expensive for Motability to buy on your behalf, so some models may require an initial advance rental. In reality, this means it’s YOUR voluntary additional contribution in order that you get the car of YOUR choice. However, many models require either a minimal – or indeed, nil advance rental. Full details on these options can be provided by our Motability Specialists.
Is there any form of Price Guarantee?
Quite simply, yes. The advance rental you agree is the price you pay when you collect your vehicle. The only case where the price may alter is if the car description is changed AFTER the original application.
I’ve found the perfect car! What happens now?
Our motability specialist will complete the application form with you. It’s that easy! You will need to bring your driving licence, award entitlement notice, proof of address, driving licence for any other named driver – and details of any previous accidents and driving convictions that you, or your named driver, may have.
How long before my new car arrives?
We will give you a projected delivery date within 24hours of placing the order. This could be as little as a few weeks. Our Motability Specialists never underestimate the thrill of taking delivery of a new car, and will advise you of any changes to the original delivery date. Upon final confirmation of your delivery date, we will finalise your insurance, etc – and get your agreement ready for you to sign.
