CELEBRATING RENAULT F1 TEAM SUCCESS AT MACKIE MOTORS
Emulating the winning formula of Renault F1 Team and driver Fernando Alonso’s second consecutive World Championship wins, motorsport fans closer to home took part in a Renault F1 Team Challenge event at Renault dealer Mackie Motors on the 17th November 2006.
Guests – young and old – came to the Brechin showroom to race each other on a bank of six Renault F1 Team simulators each with a 42-inch plasma screen. They also had the chance to try out Grand Prix racing in miniature on a four-lane Scalextric set laid out in the showroom.
Gordon Gibb from Monikie was the eventual victor, winning himself Renault F1 Team goodies, with Gordon Campbell from Brechin, second, and Martyn Wells from Arbroath in third place.
Kevin Mackie, Dealer Principal at Mackie Motors, said: “The event was held to mark Renault’s successive FIA Formula One Constructors’ and Drivers’ World Championship titles, and there was a fantastic atmosphere and great buzz here on the night.
“Everyone here at the dealership was thrilled with Renault F1 Team’s performance all year, leading up to both titles secured at the Brazilian Grand Prix. We wanted our customers to share the celebrations, enjoy a fun evening at the dealership and get a feel for the Team’s achievements.”
