Mackie Motors Supply Two New Electric Cars to Aid Voluntary Action Angus COVID-19 Effort

Mackie Motors are upping their support for Voluntatry Action Angus by supplying them with two brand new fully electric cars.

“We’ve been supporting Voluntary Action Angus for a number of years, and as their work to support our community during the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies, it’s a pleasure to announce that in partnership with MG Motor UK, we have supplied them with two brand new fully electric MG ZS EV cars,” said Mackie Motors Managing Director, Kevin Mackie.

The cars, which will be supplied free of charge for six-months, will enable Voluntary Action Angus to distribute goods safely, comfortably and with low running costs, to volunteers and those who are self isolating.

“Over the last fortnight Voluntary Action Angus have recruited over 1,000 volunteers to support me as the Chief Officer in the Health and Social Care Partnership keeping people well supported at home in their daily lives, during this unprecedented time," said Gail Smith, Chief Officer for Angus Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). "It is evident in Angus that our integrated approach to health and social care, working with the independent sector and Voluntary Action Angus is proving successful".

“The two cars kindly supplied by Mackie Motors are much needed, and will help us to deliver essentials to volunteers, as well as groceries and prescriptions to the those in greatest need," said Gary Malone, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action Angus. "We have a fantastic, longstanding relationship with Mackie’s, who have supplied us with several Nissan LEAFs, as well as maintenance of our Renault Trafic van”.

Voluntary Action Angus support the growth of volunteering, social enterprise and local third sector development in Angus. Working alongside local Health and Social Care services, they have seen an overwhelming response from the people of Angus, recruiting over 1,000 new volunteers, enabling them to get to those in greatest need in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. These new volunteers are being rapidly trained and supported to undertake deliveries of food and prescriptions, telephone befriending etc.
